    Syteline Migration Flop

    A Syteline customer approached us for help with Factory Track, an add-on application that enhances production management, quality control, and engineering within the Syteline ERP. This add-on enables users to track parts, revisions, images, providing a powerful upgrade to standard Syteline functionality. The customer had agreed to an Infor-led project to migrate their on-premises Syteline 8 ERP:

    • Phase one - (Site A) upgrade Syteline 8 to the new Syteline Cloud version 10.

    • Phase two - As part of the project, Infor convinced the customer to also migrate their sister company (Site B)—which was running Epicor P21—to Syteline Cloud 10, with the promise of improved data compatibility across both locations.

    What followed was a series of critical mishaps:

    • Site A (Syteline 8 → Syteline 10):

    While the migration appeared successful, Factory Track stopped working—engineering data failed to display, and data compatibility errors surfaced. Infor was unable to resolve the issue.

    • Site B (Epicor P21 → Syteline 10):

    At this location, the situation was even worse. Three weeks post-upgrade, the company still could not invoice, creating a massive business disruption. The implementation partner Infor had brought failed to properly understand and prepare for the Epicor migration to Syteline. After weeks of the Indianapolis customer struggling unable to invoice, the situation forced them to roll back to Epicor P21.

    The experience severely crippled the company and took months to fully recover. The fallout from this debacle resulted in several decision makers leaving the organization.

    The Turning Point: Bringing in ACOMdev:

    With Infor unable to resolve the Factory Track issue, the customer turned to ACOMdev. We immediately got engaged, and by the end of the week, Factory Track was operating normally.

    Remember Site B, after the failed attempt to migrate to Syteline, synchronizing transactions between the two sister companies no longer worked. ACOMdev was asked if we could provide a solution. To resolve this issue, we developed a custom API that:

    • Extracts the required data from Site A (Syteline 10) each evening and transmits the data to Site B.

    • At Site B our API converts the data into Epicor P21 format, restoring the seamless data integration they once had.

    After resolving the Factory Track and other support issues, Site A awarded ACOMdev with an on-going Syteline support contract.
